Mark Velez

Ph.D., Juris Doctor Adjunct Associate Professor

Mark Velez, PhD, teaches statistics in the IPPAM Program, and has taught statistics at USC since 2002. In additional to being a Lecturer at USC, he has taught public administariton and criminal law courses at various educational institutions. Dr. Velez also has worked at the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department since 1989 and currently holds the rank of Captain. Dr. Velez holds an MPA from California State University Dominguez Hills, a PhD from the University of Southern California and a JD from Southwestern Law School.

He has conducted statistical analyses in the areas of organizational efficiency, organizational change, and delivery of public services. His recent research focuses on the challenges that States face with housing the ever increasing number of prisoners, particularly housing prisoners who are infected with AIDS or are HIV+.
